Navarathiri

October 03 - October 11, 2024

Goddess Parvathi observed the Ketharagowri Vratham for 21 days to merge with Lord Sivan into the Arthanareeswarar form. Devotees observe this fasting for different reasons such as marriage, well-being of the family and prosperous life, etc. At this temple, a Yarn (sacred thread) with 21 plies is tied with a knot for each of the 21 days and placed in the hands of Lord Natarajar. At the end of the 21 days of fasting, the devotees tie the sacred thread into their hand (women on their left hand and men on their right hand). We recommend the devotees to register their names with the office for the sacred thread pooja.
