Is there a wheelchair ramp available for devotees who are less mobile?
Yes, a wheelchair ramp is available at the northside.
Can devotees bring cooked food from outside to the temple to offer?
No cooked food from outside is allowed in the main temple. All Prasadams are made at the temple “Madappalli” (kitchen) by the priests. However, fruits and factory sealed nuts packets can be brought and offered to the Deity
Are photography and/or video recording allowed inside the temple?
Photography and/or video recording are strictly NOT allowed inside the main temple.
Can devotees book services outside the temple via website?
Devotees can make the request for services outside the temple via website. MGSA will review and confirm via email. MGSA confirmation email is required prior to proceeding with the plan.
Can anyone visit the temple?
Yes, anyone can visit the temple and follow the temple protocol. On the day of temple visit we request the devotees not to consume any non- vegetarian meals/snacks before visiting the temple.
Can I make a reservation for my Archana or Abishekam or other services at the Temple by calling the office?
Yes, you can make reservation for any temple service by calling the temple office. MGSA normally do not take reservation (other than website booking) for Archanai as it can be done any time after pooja is over during the temple hours.
Can devotees book any services directly with priests?
All services must be booked either via website or calling the office. Priests are not allowed to take any bookings. The office will seek service advice from priests if necessary.
Can devotees bring home cooked food for Sunday lunch?
Sunday lunch food is provided by the temple. Devotees can bring prasadam type food for all devotees in the Cultural Center.
How can I get the upcoming event information from the temple?
Please check the website and the electronic notice board at the temple. If you provide email address, we will notify you for special poojas and festival information.
When visiting the temple, what do I need to bring for Archanai or pooja?
Though devotees are not expected to bring any materials for Archanai or pooja, you can bring fresh fruits, coconut, flowers, Aruham Pullu for Archanai or pooja. The temple does not use, or extremely limited use incense sticks so please avoid bringing it.
At the temple, am I permitted to chant or sing, and if so, when is it permitted?
MGSA want all devotees to come pray without disturbing others. Many devotees meditate at the temple too. We do not allow devotees to chant or sing.
When I visit the Temple, when Can I do the Archanai?
Archanai along with few other services such a key pooja, etc. can only be done anytime after the pooja is over and during the temple hours except for the English New Year, Tamil New Year and Vinayagar Chaturthi days when the temple is open for extended hours.
Can I make donation or contribution in person at the Temple office?
Yes, you can donate in person at the temple office. Office staff will issue a receipt for donations $20.00 or more. You can also donate through the temple website.
Can I make contribution in person to the Temple Priest?
Yes, you can give “Thatchanai” (monetary contribution) to the priests in an envelope from the office counter. No receipt will be issued by the office.
Can I make donation online?
Yes, you can donate online via credit card or debit card. Receipt will be issued for donation more than $20.00.
Do you provide food or Annathanam every day? If not, when do you offer it?
We do not provide “Annathanam” every day. We provide “Annathanam” only on Sunday lunch 11:00 am -1:00 PM. We also provide “Annathanam” on some special pooja days in the evenings
Is cellphone use allowed inside temple
Cell phone use is NOT allowed inside the main temple. Please mute your phone or power off prior to entering the temple.
If I do Abishekam in absentia, can I get the Prasadam in the mail.?
MGSA can send Abishekam prasadam in the regular Canada Post Mail (If requested)
If I do Archanai in absentia, can I get the Prasadam in the mail.?
If requested, MGSA can send Archanai prasadam if the devotee provide self addressed stamped envelop
Can I donate any food items for the temple?
Yes, any unopened rice bags, chanas, lentils, moong dhal, ghee and oil (vegetable oil only) in sealed plastic/glass container can be donated. Please contact the office for your donation.
Can I talk to my friends or family members inside the temple?
MGSA wants to maintain a quiet and spiritual environment for all devotees inside the temple. As such we kindly request devotees to maintain silence inside Temple. We recommend only quiet conversations of spiritual or administrative nature with the office manager, temple officials and priests.
I am unable to keep my small children quiet inside the temple. What should I do?
If you cannot keep your children quiet or if they need a break, please take them out to the basement to until they calm down and bring them back when they are ready. This will be appreciated by all devotees.
Can I invite my friends to the Annathanam I am sponsoring?
Annathanam is strictly for temple devotees and not for invited guests.
Can I touch the idols or enter the shrines?
No, you should not touch any idols inside or outside of the shrines. You should not enter or step inside the shrines.
