This is marked as the day the Sun enters the Mesha Raasi (Aries) that is the beginning of the new year of the Tamil Panchangam (calendar). A special Homa is performed at this Temple for Lord Ganesha after the Tamil new year commenced and Lord Ganesha procession will take place immediately after the pooja. Devotees can sponsor the Homa. An Ashdodhranama Archanai is performed during the Vasantha Mandapam pooja.
